Birmingham City University offers a postgraduate programme of study in Data networks and Security (PgCert, PgDip, Msc). This programme of study is offered in two formats. Students can attend this programme part time for 29 months, or full time for 13 months. This programme is three semesters totalling 180 credits. Students will gain research as well as professional skills within the first year of their programme that works towards completion of Master’s project. Students interested in learning the foreknowledge and capabilities needed to  work as a specialist in the area of network management and security should consider this program. This programme of study will help students achieve their goals of being successful in the industry by having the skills needed to meet the demand for engineering administrators and experts who are able to craft, put into place, and provide oversight for secure network systems in various business environments. Additionally, students interested in attending a programme of study where the Faculty house a Cisco Academy learning center (CATC) should also consider this programme. Upon completion and with hard work in the programme, graduates can look forward to joining the ranks prior cohorts that now work at companies such as Fujitsu, IBM, JP Morgan Chase, Siemens, Ericsson, Hewlett Packard, and Nokia.

Entry Requirements

Entry into this program generally requires candidates to hold a minimum of a  Second Class Honours degree or its equivalent in a discipline Related to Data Networks and Security. Potential candidates may also be considered if they do not have the minimum qualifications, but can prove that they have necessary combination of skills, education, or expertise to be successful in the programme through graduation.
