Birmingham City University provides a 13-29 month postgraduate programme in Computing (PgCert/PgDip/MsC). Students can attend this programme full time for 13 months or part time for 29 months. In this programme graduates from other disciplines will be able to gain the range of skills and knowledge needed in advance topics in computer science and business computing. These skills will assist graduates in successful workplace management and entrepreneurship positions in many areas of the industry. Prospective students interested in a learning experience that intertwines using important commercial software such as Cisco, SAS, and SAP with theoretical inquiries into the field should consider this program. Students who have a mind for business with little knowledge of the computing world may find this program attractive, because there is no prior requisite of a computing background needed to enter this course. Graduates can join prior graduates turned professionals from their school in companies such as Capegemini, Deloitte, Intel Corporation, NHS, Motorola, National Express, Royal Mail, Shell IT, among other companies.

Entry Requirements

Entry into this program generally requires candidates to hold a minimum of a  Second Class Honours degree or its equivalent in a discipline Related to Computing. Potential candidates may also be considered if they do not have the minimum qualifications, but can prove that they have necessary combination of skills, education, or expertise to be successful in the programme through graduation. Additionally, this programme has two admission periods in september and January. For a January student starting full time the programme would be 17 months, four months longer than a September starting time.
