The University of London- University College offers a post graduate programme in Computer Graphics and Vision and Imaging, (MSc) with Post Graduate Diploma and Post Graduate Certificate options. Students interested in the fundamental mathematical mechanisms that lie beneath the shaping and applying of new designs and techniques in computer vision and graphics may be interested in this programme. Students will become cognizant of the plethora of approaches and algorithms that are accessible. Students additionally will be learning to comprehensively design, apply, and evaluate the correct algorithms and problems-solving skills needed as new technologies and applications emerge worldwide.

Students who study in this program will have access to some of the continents most accomplished and successful researcher in computer graphics, geometry processing, computer vision, and virtual environments.

Some possible research activities include:

  • Geometric acquisition
  • 3D Fabrication
  • Real-time photo-realistic rendering
  • Mixed and augmented reality
  • Face recognition
  • Content-based image-database search
  • Video-texture modelling
  • Depth perception in stereo vision
  • Colour imaging for industrial inspection
  • Mapping brain function and connectivity
  • Tracking for SLAM (simultaneous localisation ad mapping
  • And many more!

Entry Requirements

In order to successfully apply to this program candidates must have an upper second-class UK Bachelor’s degree. This degree must be in a relevant discipline, or if coming from overseas have an equivalent degree standard to the second-class UK Bachelor’s degree. Computer science, mathematics, electrical, or study in one of the physical sciences is usually required. The programme personnel expect that candidates have appropriate skills in computer programming and mathematics competency upon applying to the program. Candidates who have work experience in relevant fields may also receive some consideration for that work.

This programme seeks candidates who can clearly articulate their interests in studying Computer Graphics, Vision, and Imaging at the graduate level, and at UCL. Candidates should emphasize why the program is attractive, how academic and professional, and programming skills apply. Candidates should also have a sense of their long term goals after upon graduation from the program. Writing a strong personal statement can serve as an excellent complement to Computer Graphics, Vision, and Imaging graduate programming at UCL.

Candidates should also take into consideration applying early, for scholarships and other funding particularly before the deadline of August 2014.
